OUR STORY
Built from nothing but determination.
We started in 2015 with a logo sketched on a napkin and business plans typed on a broken iPhone. We had no Wi-Fi, we lived in low-income housing, and our daughter was on the way. Casey and I wanted to merge our creativity and skills into something we could pass on to our children.
We called it 30604 Apparel, and the designs told the story of our journey from Saskatoon to Vancouver. We sold on Snapchat and Facebook, out of the trunk of our car, at markets, anywhere we could. Even while we were still fighting addiction and finding our way to ceremony, we never lost our passion for it. As we walked the red road, we taught ourselves everything from scratch: websites, marketing, design, product development, photo shoots and creative direction.
When our grassroots and activism work began, our brand grew with us. In 2020, we relaunched as Decolonial Clothing, a megaphone to amplify our communities’ issues and strengths and bring people together. We went from a silk screen in our kitchen to our garage, then to a fully staffed warehouse in Burnaby in 2021. In 2023, we opened our flagship store at 269 E. Georgia Street in Vancouver.
Today our doors are open as a place of community, learning and creativity. We host workshops and pop-ups and make space for small businesses to sell. We’ll keep using our platform to uplift our art and our people.
